Re: Bassai Dai ForumWhich line did this kata come from and is it related to other kata? Offline #3 2008-08-03 18:12:09
Re: Bassai Dai ForumOne connection is that Bassai Dai, Bassai Sho and Rohai all come from the same family of kata (Matsumura). Beyond the Matsumara line of kata there seems to also be other lines of the Bassai (Passai) kata. Offline #4 2008-09-07 01:24:27
Re: Bassai Dai ForumI've also read that their are many versions of this Kata in Japan and Okinawa. Oyadomori (if that's how you spell it) was one such line of lineage that this Kata came from. We've have such aKata in Shotokan (as many of you will know). Regards. Offline #5 2008-09-24 23:44:22
Re: Bassai Dai Forumdo you place timing gaps in the kata bewtween sections/directions? Our Shotokan school does not (like most we have seen). But some styles at tournaments leave 1-3 seconds between directions and I prefer this to help create "zanshin" - your thoughts? Offline #6 2008-09-28 11:40:34
