SanchinHow many styles of karate have this kata. Uechi ryu has a verson and I know Shito ryu does also. They do vary in the katas techniques though Uechi ryu open handed strikes shito ryu closed fists. What about any other styles? Margaret Offline #2 2009-04-10 21:39:53
Re: SanchinWe ceratinly also do it in Goju. Yes the Uechi ryu is different with its open hand approach. There many okinawan styles in my experience that practice this kata - most forms are very similar and it is usually simply variations in emphasis on breathing style and "physciallness" of the kata performance. For example it seems that in Goju we have a little more breath and muscular emphasis than the Shito-ryu versions? Offline #3 2010-06-10 19:45:27
Re: SanchinYes I noticed that Uechi ryu version was more breathing and muscle focased. Margaret Offline |
